It is very distressing to note that Mithila is not known outside Bihar as it should be because this great region is the cradle of Hindu civilisation and has such glorious past.Vidyapati is perhaps the greatest Indian poet but he is not half- famous as Ravindra Nath Tagore and others.
Everyone knows about Ravindra Sangeet but the same is opposite with "Vidyapati Sangeet".Maithils themselves are to blame for this.They do not take pride of their heritage and feel embarrassed to reveal their Identity.
A software engineer who became successful and now is the CEO of a company has posted his native place as "Near Nepal Border".He belongs to a village of Darbhanga district but feel ashamed to mention that.These same fellow would be screaming of their true identity from the roof top once Mithila gains in prominence by building its infrastructure.
There are people like Dr.Dhankar Thakur who is doing the great service to the society and their effort must not go in vain.Those who can not support actively must spread nice words in that regard and everyone can do that .
