Anshu Mala Jha, an asset to Mithila's folk music,an accomplished Maithili singer is dead.She trained under mentors Pt Rajan & Sajan Mishra & Shri Gautam Banerjee. Having done MA from Miranda House (DU) & MPhil, she was pursuing her doctoral in Hindustani Sangeet. Anshumala was afflicted with renal failure . She had contracted the disease in 2010 and had been to CMC, Vellore, AIIMS, New Delhi and SGPGI, Lucknow, besides few more hospitals during these period.
Anshumala''s husband Madhupchandra Jha deserted her some time after she was afflicted with the disease and none from her in-laws side came forward for help.
Taking note of media reports, the Nitish Kumar government had shifted Anshumala to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) from a private hospital.
